The Appalachian Woods Promise
At Appalachian Woods, we don’t just manufacture wood products; we help you create remarkable spaces.
Since 1997, our family-owned business has been dedicated to the art of reclaiming history and turning it into timeless flooring, beams, and furniture.
Our Satisfaction Guarantee is our promise of partnership. We are committed to providing an extraordinary experience from the first design consultation to the final delivery.
Commitment to Quality & Craftsmanship
We set the highest standards in the reclaimed wood industry. Every piece of wood we offer is hand-selected and processed by skilled artisans in our Virginia mill shops. We guarantee that your product will meet the precise technical standards outlined in your Sales Order and our Product Specification Sheets regarding:
- Species & Character: Genuine antique and reclaimed species with authentic patina.
- Dimensions: Accurate milling for widths, thicknesses, and profiles.
- Moisture Content: Milled at a stable 6–9% moisture level for long-term durability.
- Grading Standards: Consistency in character, knots, and grain as specified.
The Partnership Promise
We understand that high-end building projects are complex. Our team of experts is here to guide you through the entire journey.
- Prompt Error Correction: If we make a mistake or ship items that do not align with your Sales Order, we take full responsibility and will promptly correct the error.
- Expert Guidance: We provide personalized advice on choosing the right materials, understanding natural variations, and general installation guidelines.
- Transparency: We encourage you to visit our Staunton showroom to review your order prior to shipment whenever possible to ensure it aligns perfectly with your vision.
Setting You Up for Success
A great product requires a great installation. To ensure your long-term satisfaction, we adhere to and recommend the following professional standards:
- Pre-Installation Inspection: We require that you or your installer inspect each piece prior to cutting or installation. Per industry standard, installation constitutes final acceptance of the material.
- NWFA Guidelines: We recommend following the National Wood Flooring Association (NWFA) guidelines for acclimation and installation to protect your investment from environmental changes.
- Professional Finish: For unfinished products, we suggest finishing samples on-site before completing the entire floor to ensure the final look meets your aesthetic goals.
Stress-Free" Delivery
While our shipping terms are technically F.O.B. Origin (where legal ownership transfers at our loading dock), we believe a true partnership doesn’t end when the truck leaves our mill. Shipping reclaimed wood requires care, and if the carrier fails to deliver your order in pristine condition, we are here to help. See our “Shipping & Delivery” page for more details.
- Courtesy Claim Handling: Dealing with freight companies is a headache. If your order is damaged in transit, simply note the damage on the delivery receipt and contact us. We will handle the insurance paperwork and claim logistics for you. There are specific steps you must take to give us the best possible chance of filing a successful claim with the freight carrier. See our “Shipping & Delivery” page for more details.
- Expedited Production Priority: Because our products are custom-milled, replacements cannot always be shipped “next day.” However, in the event of transit damage, we move your replacement order to the front of our production line to minimize the impact on your project timeline.
- Financial Protection: Our priority is getting your project back on track. We will provide replacement material for any wood damaged by the carrier at no additional cost to you.
