1. Pricing

Yes, we do offer discounts—and in many cases, they are already factored into your quote automatically. Our pricing is based on several key factors, including the total square footage, the widths you select, and the volume of your order. Larger orders and more common width combinations often qualify for lower rates.

Additionally, flexibility plays an important role in pricing. If you’re open to a wider range of widths or can be flexible with your lead time, we may be able to offer additional discounts. This flexibility allows us to better utilize our current inventory and production schedule, which can result in further cost savings for you.

If you’d like to explore potential savings, feel free to let us know your square footage needs and how flexible you can be with your project timeline and width preferences—we’re happy to work with you to find the best value possible. You can start by filling out our Quote Request form.

To receive a custom quote tailored to your project, please fill out our Quote Request Form or give us a call at (800) 333-7610. We’ll be happy to review your details and provide accurate pricing based on your specific needs.

The more information you can provide—such as the type of flooring you’re interested in, total square footage, preferred widths, delivery location, and any flexibility with lead time—the more precise and helpful your quote will be. If you’re still deciding between a few options, feel free to include those details as well, and we can provide multiple pricing scenarios for comparison.

Once we receive your form, our team will review it promptly and follow up with any questions to ensure you get the best possible product and value for your project.

Because of the nature of reclaimed wood, pricing isn’t always one-size-fits-all—and that’s a good thing. Our products are custom milled from reclaimed materials, and availability can vary significantly based on current inventory, width combinations, and the species you’re looking for. We often carry a range of widths and grades, but we don’t always have every option in stock at any given time.

Listing pricing for every possible width, species, and square footage scenario would not only take up a huge amount of space on our website, but it could also lead to confusion or outdated information. Instead, we prefer to provide custom quotes tailored to your specific needs.

This approach also allows us to pass on savings when possible. For example, if you’re flexible with your lead time or open to a variety of widths, we may be able to offer discounts based on what we currently have in inventory. Every quote we create is customized to give you the most accurate and competitive pricing for your project.

If you’d like to get a personalized quote, we encourage you to fill out our Quote Request Form with as much detail as possible.

2. Lead Time

Our standard lead time for most flooring orders is typically around 4 – 6 weeks. However, this can vary based on a few important factors—including current inventory levels, our milling schedule, the specific product you’re ordering, and the widths you select. Wider widths or more customized specifications may require additional time, especially if we need to source or sort specific materials to meet your needs.

That said, if you’re working on a tighter timeline, we encourage you to let us know. In some cases, we can expedite production or offer alternative options that may be available sooner—especially if you’re flexible with widths or species.

When you request a quote, we’ll provide an estimated lead time specific to the flooring you’re interested in. Our goal is always to be transparent and to help you plan your project with confidence. If you have a target date in mind, don’t hesitate to mention it—we’ll do our best to accommodate your schedule.

Lead time is primarily determined by the fact that all of our flooring is custom milled to order. We don’t pull flooring off a shelf—instead, we craft each order specifically for your project based on the exact specifications you provide. Once your order is confirmed, it’s added to our milling schedule, and we prepare the material accordingly.

Several key factors can influence how long this process takes:

  • Inventory Availability: Reclaimed wood is a limited and variable resource. The species, grade, and widths you’re requesting may or may not be readily available in our current inventory, which can affect turnaround time.

  • Width Combinations: Some widths—particularly wider planks—may take longer to source or produce due to more limited availability or additional milling time.

  • Our Milling Schedule: We operate on a production schedule that fluctuates with demand. During our busiest times of the year—especially the spring and summer months—lead times can be longer due to a higher volume of orders.

  • Custom Requirements: Special requests such as matching stair parts, end-matching, or specific textures and finishes can add time to the process.

While our standard lead time is around 4 – 6 weeks, we understand that some projects are time-sensitive. If you have a specific deadline, let us know and we’ll do our best to accommodate your schedule. In some cases, we may be able to expedite your order or offer alternatives that can be delivered sooner.

3. Samples

Yes, absolutely—we’d be happy to send you samples! We understand how important it is to see the wood in person, feel the texture, and get a better sense of the color and character before making a final decision.

To ensure we send the most relevant samples for your project, we typically begin by preparing a custom quote. This helps us confirm that the flooring you’re considering is within budget and that it’s available in the widths, species, and quantities you need. Once you’ve received your quote, simply let us know which product(s) you’d like to see samples of, and we’ll put together a box and ship it to you via UPS.

There’s no better way to appreciate the beauty and quality of our reclaimed wood than by seeing it firsthand. Just reach out after you’ve received your quote, and we’ll get your samples on the way!

Each sample box typically includes 3–4 pieces of our milled tongue and groove flooring, each approximately 18″ long. These are full-thickness samples—cut from actual production runs—so you can not only see the natural beauty of the wood, but also examine the precision and craftsmanship of our milling process.

Our goal with every sample box is to give you a good sense of the flooring’s color, tones, grain patterns, texture, and overall character. While we make every effort to ensure the samples are representative of the full floor, reclaimed wood by nature is highly variable, and it’s not always possible to capture the full range of features—such as knots, nail holes, saw marks, or other natural variations—in just a few pieces.

To give you a complete picture, your sample box also includes a printed product specification sheet that outlines key details like species, milling profile, dimensions, and grading notes. We encourage you to review this sheet alongside the samples and to browse the detailed photographs on our website, which showcase a broader range of what each product can look like across a full installation.

Together, the physical samples, product specs, and online gallery should give you a confident understanding of the quality and character you can expect from our flooring. And of course, we’re always available to answer any follow-up questions you may have once you’ve had a chance to review everything.

Absolutely—we would love for you to visit us! Seeing our products in person is one of the best ways to truly appreciate the character, craftsmanship, and quality that go into every piece of our reclaimed wood flooring.

We have two locations in Virginia:

  • Stuarts Draft, VA – This is our main facility and showroom, where you can view a wide range of our flooring, beams, paneling, and other reclaimed wood products. It’s the ideal place to see various species, finishes, and widths up close, ask questions, and speak with our knowledgeable team about your project.

  • Staunton, VA – This is our mill shop, where much of the custom milling and production takes place. While it’s not a traditional showroom, it offers a behind-the-scenes look at how we process and transform reclaimed wood into high-quality flooring and lumber. Here you can also see some of our custom made furniture such as tables, chairs and more.

We do recommend calling ahead to schedule your visit so we can make sure someone is available to guide you, answer questions, and show you the products most relevant to your project. Whether you’re in the early planning stages or ready to make final decisions, an in-person visit is a great opportunity to explore your options and experience the Appalachian Woods difference firsthand.

4. Ordering

Our standard minimum for custom-milled flooring orders is 500 square feet. This allows us to efficiently set up and run our milling equipment while maintaining the high level of quality and consistency we’re known for.

If you’re looking for less than 500 square feet, we may still be able to help—as long as we have the flooring already in inventory. In these cases, we can sometimes fulfill smaller orders without milling from scratch, depending on availability.

On occasion, we do accept smaller custom orders below 500 square feet, but these are subject to a $200 setup fee to help offset the additional labor and equipment time involved in running a limited batch.

If your project is smaller—such as for an accent area, hallway, or powder room—please don’t hesitate to reach out. Let us know the square footage you need and what product you’re interested in, and we’ll let you know what’s possible based on our current stock or milling schedule. We’re always happy to work with you to find the best solution.

Placing an order is simple, and we’re here to guide you every step of the way. Once you’ve received your quote and had a chance to review any samples, just reach out to your salesperson by phone or email—they’ll be happy to walk you through the next steps and answer any remaining questions you may have.

When you’re ready to move forward, your salesperson will gather all the necessary details for your project, including species, widths, square footage, delivery location, and any custom specifications. Based on that information, we’ll prepare a Sales Order and send it to you via email for review and approval.

The Sales Order will outline everything clearly: product specs, pricing, estimated lead time, delivery arrangements, and payment terms. Once approved we will send you a deposit Invoice.

For a full breakdown of our ordering process—including what to expect before, during, and after placing your order—click here for detailed information.

We look forward to working with you and helping bring your vision to life with our reclaimed wood products!

Yes, we do mill small orders; however, they can present certain challenges. Each milling run requires a significant amount of time and labor to set up our equipment, regardless of the order size. Because of this, smaller orders are often less cost-effective to produce.

To help cover these additional setup costs, we apply a setup fee starting at $200 for flooring orders under 500 square feet. The final setup fee may vary depending on factors such as quantity, wood species, selected widths, and any custom specifications.

If you’re considering a smaller order, we’re happy to review your project details and provide a clear estimate, including any applicable setup fees. We’ll work with you to find the best and most efficient solution for your needs.

Our standard terms require a 50% deposit to begin processing your order, with the remaining balance due when the order is complete and ready for shipment or pickup. The deposit secures your place in our production schedule and allows us to begin sourcing, milling, and preparing your materials.

Once your order is complete, we’ll notify you and provide a final invoice for the remaining balance. Payment must be received in full before the order is shipped or released.

We accept several forms of payment, including checks, electronic checks (ACH transfers), and credit cards (note: credit card payments are subject to a 3% processing fee).

For more information on accepted payment methods, deposit requirements, and full terms and conditions, please visit our Payments & Terms page.

We accept all major credit/debit cards as well as electronic checks. All card transactions have a 3% processing fee. There is no fee for electronic checks. Both are easy to do securely online. You can see more details Payments & Terms page.

To place your order, we’ll need a few key details to ensure everything is processed accurately and efficiently. In addition to your project specifications—such as total square footage, species, widths, and any custom requirements—we’ll also need the following:

  • Billing address
  • Shipping/delivery address (if different from billing)
  • Primary contact information, including your email address and phone number

Once we have this information, your salesperson will prepare a detailed Sales Order that outlines your selected products, pricing, estimated lead time, and terms. The Sales Order will be emailed to you for review and approval. If everything looks good, you’ll simply confirm the order and submit your deposit to get started.

For a step-by-step overview of the full ordering process—from quote to delivery—please visit our How to Order page.

If you have any questions or need assistance gathering your project details, our team is here to help. We’re committed to making the process smooth.

5. Flooring

Not at this time. We proudly manufacture and distribute all of our flooring directly from our facilities in Virginia. This direct-to-customer model allows us to maintain complete control over the quality of our products and provide a higher level of personalized service to each customer.

By working directly with you—whether you’re a homeowner, contractor, architect, or designer—we’re able to offer custom quotes, tailored product recommendations, and clear communication throughout the entire process. It also allows us to be more flexible with lead times, product options, and potential discounts based on inventory and project needs.

If you’re interested in our products or have questions about placing an order, our knowledgeable sales team is here to assist you every step of the way.

In most cases, your installer or contractor will calculate the total square footage needed for your flooring project, including the appropriate amount of overage for waste and layout cuts. However, if you’re calculating it yourself, the process is fairly straightforward for standard rooms.

To determine the square footage, measure the length and width of each room or area you plan to floor, then multiply those two numbers together to get the surface area in square feet. For example, a room that is 15′ X 12′ feet wide would be 180 square feet.

Once you’ve measured each area, add all the totals together for your complete project size. Then, add an additional 10% to account for waste, which covers things like trimming, fitting around corners or for future repairs. In some cases—such as when using wider widths, complex layouts, or irregularly shaped rooms—you may want to increase the waste factor.

Here’s a simple formula:

(Length × Width) + 10% waste = Total square footage to order

Yes, you will likely notice signs of previous insect activity—such as small wormholes or beetle holes—in many of our reclaimed wood flooring products. These markings are completely natural and are considered a desirable part of the character and story that reclaimed wood carries. They reflect the wood’s past life, often from historic barns, factories, or homes, and contribute to the unique, rustic aesthetic that makes reclaimed flooring so special.

While these features add charm and authenticity, we understand concerns about live insects. Rest assured, all of our reclaimed wood is thoroughly heat-treated and kiln-dried as part of our production process. This process raises the wood’s core temperature to a level that eliminates any insects, eggs, or larvae that may have been present in the raw material.

So although you may see evidence of historical insect activity, there are no live insects in the flooring you receive. What you’re left with is a beautiful, stable, and completely safe reclaimed product—full of history, but ready for modern living.

Yes, all of the wood we use for our flooring is carefully kiln dried to a moisture content of approximately 8% – 10%.

Kiln drying is a critical step in the production process, especially for reclaimed wood. It not only stabilizes the material—reducing the risk of excessive expansion, contraction, or warping after installation—but also ensures that the wood is properly conditioned. The controlled heat in the kiln eliminates any residual moisture, as well as insects, larvae, or eggs that may be present in reclaimed lumber.

This drying process helps prepare the wood for long-term performance in your home or business, making it suitable for a variety of environments with normal indoor humidity levels. Once kiln dried, the wood is further acclimated, milled, and inspected to meet our high standards of quality and consistency.

Whether you’re installing in a residential or commercial space, you can be confident that our kiln-dried reclaimed wood flooring is stable and ready for a lasting installation.

Our flooring is supplied in random lengths, with our standard specification being 2′ – 10′ and longer. Most of the planks in your order will typically fall within the 4′ – 10′ range, which creates a beautiful, natural-looking layout with minimal repetition and strong visual interest.

You will also receive some shorter boards (2’–4′), which are useful and often necessary when starting and ending rows, navigating around doorways, or installing in tighter spaces such as closets, hallways, or small rooms. These shorter pieces help reduce waste and make installation more efficient.

In many cases, depending on the species of wood and our current inventory, you may also receive longer planks—up to 11′-12′. While we can’t guarantee specific lengths, we do our best to provide a balanced and usable mix that complements your project and installation needs.

If you have specific length preferences or are working on a project where longer lengths are particularly important, let us know during the quoting process. We may be able to tailor your order to better suit your needs based on what’s available at the time.

Yes, we offer a variety of baseboard mouldings and trim options that can be custom milled to match your flooring. These include standard profiles such as baseboards, quarter rounds, scotia, and shoe mouldings—all designed to provide a seamless and cohesive look throughout your space.

We can mill these pieces from the same species as your flooring to ensure a consistent appearance in color, grain, and tone. Whether you’re going for a rustic reclaimed look or a more refined, clean edge, we can help you choose mouldings that complement both your floor and your overall design aesthetic.

Availability may vary depending on the species and width of your flooring, so we recommend discussing trim options with your salesperson when placing your order. They can walk you through available profiles, provide samples or drawings, and help ensure everything ties together beautifully.

If you have specific dimensions or a custom profile in mind, we may also be able to accommodate custom moulding requests based on your project needs.

We recommend ordering an additional 8% – 10% over your actual square footage to account for waste during installation. This extra material helps cover cuts, trimming, fitting around corners, and any boards that may not be suitable for high-visibility areas due to natural imperfections.

The actual amount of waste can vary depending on several factors, including the layout of the space, the width of the boards, and the installer’s preferences. For projects with more complex layouts, angled walls, or intricate patterns such as herringbone or chevron, it may be wise to order more than 10% to ensure full coverage.

Ultimately, we defer to the expertise of your installer to determine the best overage for your specific project.

Our flooring is available in a range of widths, depending on whether you’re selecting reclaimed or new material.

Our reclaimed flooring typically comes in widths ranging from 2.5 inches up to 11.5 inches. In some cases, we may also have wider planks available. Availability can vary based on current inventory and the nature of reclaimed material, so if you’re interested in a specific width—or a wide plank look—please reach out to your salesperson for up-to-date options.

Our new (non-reclaimed) flooring is generally available in widths from 3″ up to inches to 11″ , offering a cleaner and more consistent look with the same high-quality craftsmanship. Like with our reclaimed options, not every width is always in stock for every species, so it’s best to check with us early in your planning process if you have a particular width or pattern in mind.

For projects that require ultra-wide planks—12 inches or wider—please note that these are not milled with tongue-and-groove milling, due to stability and machining limitations at those sizes. These extra-wide boards are typically milled with a square edge and are best suited for specific applications where a face-nailed installation is appropriate.

We’re happy to help you select the right widths for your project and can recommend combinations or random-width patterns that offer a beautiful, authentic reclaimed look while making the most of available material. Let us know your preferences and we’ll work with you to create a layout that suits your design and budget.

Yes, color and tone variation is a natural and expected characteristic of wood flooring—and it’s one of the things that makes real wood so beautiful and unique. No two boards are exactly alike, and variations in grain, texture, and color are part of what gives wood its warmth, depth, and authentic appearance.

The degree of variation depends on the type of wood and whether you’re selecting reclaimed or new material. Reclaimed flooring, especially barn board-style products, tends to show the most pronounced variation. These planks often feature a mix of weathered patinas, aged sapwood and heartwood, and the natural effects of exposure to the elements over decades—creating a rich, organic look with a wide range of tones.

New (non-reclaimed) flooring will generally have a more uniform appearance. However, even new wood flooring can display natural differences in color and grain, particularly in wider planks or character-grade options. Species like Hickory, for example, are known for having striking natural contrasts even in new material.

Our sample boxes and product photos are great tools to help you visualize the range of tones you can expect. If you have questions or want help selecting the right product for your design goals, our team is happy to assist.

We do our best to match your ordered square footage as closely as possible, but due to the nature of custom-milled flooring, there may be a slight variance in the final quantity delivered. This is common across the flooring industry, especially when working with reclaimed or specialty wood products.

In most cases, your order will include a small amount of overage, typically no more than 1% above the ordered quantity. This overage helps ensure your installer has sufficient material to complete the project and is especially useful in case of last-minute layout changes or minor on-site adjustments. The final amount shipped—and any overage—will be clearly reflected on your final invoice.

The order can actually be a few feet short of the ordered quantity, but that is rare. While this is uncommon, it’s something to keep in mind when calculating your required square footage and waste factor.

We recommend accounting for 8–10% waste in your project plans, and factoring in that our shipped quantity may be slightly more (or very rarely slightly less) than the exact square footage ordered. If you have specific constraints or need a precise quantity, let your salesperson know and we’ll do everything we can to accommodate your needs.

6. Finishing

While we do not apply finishes in-house, we partner with Premiere Finishing & Coating, a highly respected finishing company known for their quality, durability, and consistency. Their advanced finishing process allows for superior protection while maintaining the beauty and texture of the wood.

They offer a wide range of finish options to suit both aesthetic preferences and functional needs. From a traditional high-gloss finish that enhances the natural grain and color of the wood to a more subtle, satin “oil-like” finish that offers a low-sheen, natural look, there are plenty of options to complement your design style.

While we have finishes we really like, our expertise is manufacturing the wood flooring. Your installer/finisher should be the one to advise you on on-site finishes. We have put together a collection of links to help you with questions about finishing the flooring. Always have your floor finisher test the finish on sample pieces before he finishes the entire floor to make sure it is the look you want.

We are more than happy to discuss the different options for finishing. We do have finishes we think look great on our flooring and our happy to give you our opinion but ultimately we would defer to your installers expertise on any technical questions.

Proper care and maintenance will help preserve the beauty and longevity of your wood floors for years to come. However, the best cleaning methods and products to use will depend on the type of finish applied to your flooring.

For site-finished flooring (finished after installation), we recommend deferring to your installer or finishing professional. They will be familiar with the specific products and techniques used on your floor and can provide the most accurate guidance for cleaning and maintenance.

For pre-finished flooring, we can provide detailed care instructions based on the finish you select—whether it’s a UV-cured urethane, low-sheen matte finish, or a satin oil-like look. In general, pre-finished floors should be kept free of dust and debris with regular sweeping or vacuuming (using a soft floor attachment), and cleaned occasionally with a finish-compatible hardwood floor cleaner.

We also recommend:

  • Using protective pads under furniture
  • Avoiding wet mops or harsh cleaners
  • Placing rugs or mats at entrances to reduce dirt and grit

The cost of finishing your flooring can vary depending on several factors, but in general, finishing starts at approximately $5.00 per square foot.

If you’re choosing a custom stain color, there will be an additional cost—usually ranging from $0.20 to $0.80 per square foot, depending on the complexity of the color, the type of wood, and how it takes the stain.

Final finishing costs depend on a variety of factors, including:

  • Type of flooring (reclaimed vs. newly milled, species, grade)
  • Total square footage
  • Number of different widths in your order (more widths can require more handling and sorting)
  • Specific finish selected (e.g., high-gloss, satin, matte, stained, or natural)

We work with Premiere Finishing & Coating, a trusted finishing partner known for their high-quality, durable finishes and wide range of customization options. Once your product selections are confirmed, we’ll provide an accurate finishing quote tailored to your project.

If you have questions about finish types, costs, or how different finishes will look on your selected flooring, your salesperson will be happy to guide you through the options and help you choose the right finish for your space and budget.

Yes, our finishing partner offers both standard stain colors and custom stain matching to suit your specific design preferences. Whether you’re looking for a classic, time-tested look or trying to match an existing floor, or design palette, we can help achieve the look you’re after.

Our finisher, Premiere Finishing & Coating offers a wide range of finish options to suit both aesthetic preferences and functional needs. From a traditional high-gloss finish that enhances the natural grain and color of the wood to a more subtle, satin “oil-like” finish that offers a low-sheen, natural look, there are plenty of options to complement your design style. The “oil like” finish is the most popular choice for most of our floors.

Finishes are available in a variety of sheens, stain colors, and protective coatings—including UV-cured urethane and low-VOC options. If you’re looking for a custom color or texture, we may be able to accommodate that as well through Premiere’s custom finishing capabilities.

If you need help choosing a finish, contact your sales representative and they will be happy to assist you.

7. Installation

Yes, your wood flooring should be acclimated to the environment it will be installed in. The NWFA recommends 7-10 days but this can vary depending on location and site conditions. For a map of recommended acclimation period, please refer to the map on page 36 of the National Wood Flooring Installation Guide. We would also defer to your local installers expertise.

Acclimating wood flooring allows the material to adjust to the temperature and humidity conditions of your home before installation. Because wood is a natural product, it expands and contracts with changes in moisture. If it’s not properly acclimated, the flooring may warp, gap, or buckle after it’s installed. Taking the time to acclimate the wood—typically by letting it sit in the installation space for several days—helps ensure a stable, long-lasting floor with minimal movement over time.

We are proud members of the National Wood Flooring Association (NWFA) and you can use their search feature to find an NWFA certified installer in your area. We typically do not recommend specific installers as we do not get feedback on installers from most projects and cannot vouch for the quality of their work.

This is a great question—and one we’re actually surprised doesn’t come up more often. When working with random-width flooring, the answer is typically no, you won’t install using a strict repeating pattern. That’s because unless you’ve ordered an equal number of linear feet in each width, attempting a fixed pattern (such as 6″, 4″, 5″, repeated consistently) can cause you to run out of certain widths too early—especially the wider ones, which tend to be more limited in supply.

For most projects, we aim to mill your order to include a balanced square footage across the available widths, based on what we have in inventory. However, this balance doesn’t translate into equal linear footage, since wider boards cover more area per lineal foot than narrower ones.

After your flooring is milled and packaged, we’ll know the exact linear footage of each width included in your order. At that point, we’re happy to generate a recommended installation pattern guide that uses your specific mix of widths, helping you avoid overuse of any one size.

If you would like us to provide a layout pattern based on your milled order, just let your salesperson know—once we’ve completed milling, we can email you a customized width usage guide.

We defer installation questions to a qualified installer, as installation conditions can vary based on climate, subfloor type, and other site-specific factors. A professional installer will know the best method for your project—whether nail-down, glue-down, or floating—and how to properly acclimate and prepare the wood.

While we don’t provide step-by-step installation instructions, we do include a Product Specification Sheet with each order, and we’re happy to answer questions related to the milling, layout, or width distribution.

Appalachian Woods is a manufacturer of high-quality reclaimed and newly milled wood flooring; we do not currently offer installation services. However, we may be able to provide recommendations for experienced installers or finishers in your area. Please speak with your salesperson, and they’ll be happy to check for any trusted contacts or referrals based on your location and project needs.

Yes, in many cases our flooring can be installed over radiant heat systems; however, there are several important considerations to ensure a successful installation. Because we do not offer installation services, we defer to the guidelines provided by the National Wood Flooring Association (NWFA) as well as the expertise of your installer.

According to the NWFA: “Most wood flooring can be installed over radiant heat, provided all of the necessary conditions are met.” These conditions include proper subfloor preparation, moisture control, temperature regulation, and careful acclimation of the wood prior to installation. It’s also important to maintain consistent indoor humidity levels throughout the year to minimize expansion and contraction.

We recommend discussing your radiant heat setup with your installer and reviewing the NWFA Installation Guidelines, which provide detailed instructions and best practices. If your installer has any questions about our products or their suitability for radiant heat, we’re happy to provide technical specs or additional information. For more information, please visit www.nwfa.org.

8. Reclaimed Wood

Yes, absolutely! While reclaimed and newly milled wood flooring is our specialty, we offer a wide range of complementary wood products to help you complete your project with a cohesive, custom look.

We provide stair parts—including treads, risers, and stair nosing—as well as a variety of mouldings and trim profiles, such as baseboards, quarter round, and scotia, all of which can be custom milled to match your flooring in both species and finish.

In addition to flooring and trim, we also offer reclaimed wall planks for accent walls and ceilings, reclaimed lumber for custom builds, and antique hand-hewn or circular sawn beams that are perfect for mantels, ceiling accents, or structural use in both residential and commercial spaces.

For smaller custom pieces and furniture, such as mantels, table tops, shelving, or one-of-a-kind reclaimed wood furniture, we invite you to explore our Etsy shop, where we feature unique items crafted from the same high-quality materials used in our flooring and architectural products.

Whether you’re working on a full renovation or just looking for the perfect finishing touches, we’re happy to help you find the right reclaimed wood elements for your space. Just ask your salesperson for more details or to check current availability.

Yes, all of our wood is thoroughly kiln dried to a moisture content of approximately 8% – 10%. This step is essential to ensure the stability, durability, and long-term performance of the material—especially important when working with reclaimed wood.

Kiln drying serves several critical purposes. It removes excess moisture from the wood, reducing the risk of shrinkage, warping, or movement after installation. It also eliminates any insects, larvae, or eggs that may have been present in reclaimed material.

Much of our reclaimed wood is sourced locally, right here in the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia, where we’re based. This region is rich in agricultural and industrial history, offering a steady supply of historic barns and other structures built from woods like oak, chestnut and other species. Salvaging wood from these buildings allows us to preserve the unique character and craftsmanship of the past while giving the material new life.

In addition to our local sourcing, we work with a network of suppliers and reclamation partners across the eastern United States. These partners supply us with reclaimed wood from a wide variety of historic structures, including barns, textile mills, factories, —each with its own story and unique material characteristics.

9. Shipping

Most of our flooring and wood products are shipped via freight carriers, securely packed on skids to ensure safe delivery. Once your order is complete and your balance is paid, we’ll arrange shipment and provide tracking information or a Bill of Lading.

Deliveries are typically made to the curb or driveway of the shipping address. Someone must be present to inspect and unload the shipment, as the freight company will not move materials inside. If you require special delivery arrangements, such as a liftgate or limited-access delivery, please let your salesperson know in advance as these have an additional cost and liftgates are not available on all trucks.

Please view our Shipping & Delivery page for additional details.
