Shipping & Delivery

Nationwide Job Site Delivery

When your order is placed we will have an estimated ship date on the Sales Order. We understand that timing is crucial and will do everything in our power to make sure your products arrive on time.

Each order is carefully packaged on a custom skid to make sure your product arrives safely at its destination. We will keep you posted on your order status and give you a call about a week before the order is to ship. The trucking company will call 1-2 days before delivery to confirm a date and time of delivery on all non-commercial deliveries.

Shipping

Our products are shipped nationwide via common carriers such as Old Dominion Freight Lines, etc. These trucks are typically about 36’ long and will need access to deliver your flooring. Larger orders are usually delivered on a flatbed and these trucks are usually 65’ or longer. You are ordering premium products and we only use the top carriers to help ensure that your flooring arrives without incidents.

Please let us know at the time of order placement if you think there will be a problem or if there is limited access at the delivery site and we will make other arrangements to deliver your products. We will do everything we can to ensure a smooth delivery.

We ship world wide. If your project is located outside the United States we can make arrangements to have your order delivered by boat, ferry or common carrier depending on the location.

Job Site Delivery

When your flooring arrives you will be responsible for unloading it from the truck. If a forklift is not available you will have to unload it by hand. The flooring is packaged in nested bundles to make unloading easier. Each bundle generally has 18-22 square feet of standard 3/4″ flooring. Depending on the size of the load this is generally handled easily with 3-5 people. Due to insurance regulations the driver will not usually help unloading. Our skids are too long to be turned sideways so a liftgate on the truck cannot usually be used. Any additional equipment or services you request with the trucking company will result in additional charges.

Please note any damage on the Delivery Receipt or Bill Of Lading and take photos. This is important because the trucking company is responsible for any damage to your product. We take every precaution when packaging your flooring to make sure it arrives safely. Do not refuse delivery of the order. Just notify Appalachian Woods and we will replace the damaged wood.

Most LTL carriers provide 15-60 minutes of free time for unloading, after which additional charges are incurred. The amount of “free time” to unload varies by carrier. Once the free time is exceeded, additional fees are applied, usually ranging from $100-$200 per hour.

When your product arrives please inspect it for quality of manufacture, grade and quantity. Your flooring will come with a packing slip that lists the quantity for each width. Please double check this upon arrival and notify us as soon as possible if any discrepancies are found.
